I went for realism here, with a very nice shield! That spear is painted to look very new, as if just replaced on campaign. The tablet braid on the edges of the tunic is also meant to be in scale and realistic. The thing I relaize though is that the design is just too small; painting things at larger scale is the way to go, since it's how the head/hands/details are usually done! It also lets you add more details!
